Good morning y’all! I thought I would start the morning by sharing an easy make ahead breakfast for busy mornings. The husband leaves for PT at 5:30 every morning and doesn’t come back home for breakfast. The food offered at the DFAC isn’t quite clean or healthy, so I make him oatmeal in mason jars every night. No cooking, just throw it in the jar, shake it up, and it softens overnight! Every good southern girl makes her man breakfast 🙂
1/2 cup old fashioned oats
1/2 cup almond milk (or other non-dairy milk)
1/2 cup vanilla nonfat yogurt or greek yogurt (if you use greek, I suggest adding a dash of vanilla extract to cut the tartness)
Add to your jar, close the lid, and shake until combined.
Now, add the deliciousness. The husband’s favorites so far have been peanut butter & jelly, blueberry almond, and almond maple.
Today’s was peanut butter & jelly. Add to taste, but don’t be a fatty and add the whole jar. We like Naturally More peanut butter (it has flax seed in it, packed with omegas to aid in weight control) or PB2 (powdered and only 45 calories/serving!). We usually buy Cascadian Farms Organic jelly but a sugar free one would work as well.
Peanut butter and a chopped banana
1 T pure maple syrup, a spoonful of almond butter, dash of almond extract
spoonful of almond butter, handful of blueberries, dash of almond extract
substitute almond milk for Silk Protein berry flavor, and add chopped banana and strawberries
substitute dark chocolate almond milk in the peanut butter and banana flavor
add a tsp of sugar free nectarine preserves and add frozen peaches
